Longtime Pomperaug Football Coach Leaves to Join Son's Team

On the same day that his son Mike took over the Southington football program, Chuck Drury has decided to resign as the head man at Pomperaug to join his son's staff.

Drury, who spent 35 years as the coach of the Panthers, won the Class MM state title in 2004.  Two year's ago, Drury led Pomperaug to a runner-up in Class L.

Southington High has elevated Mike Drury from defensive coordinator to the position of head football coach.

Drury takes over for D.J. Hernandez, who left earlier this year to become the quarterback's coach at Brown.  Last season the Blue Knights were 8-2 and won the Central Connecticut Conference South championship.
