Connecticut will crown two fewer high school football champs in 2010.

The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference has eliminated Class MM and Class SS for the upcoming season.  The 143 football-playing schools in the state will now be divided into Classes LL, L, M and S.

The state athletic governing body also added an extra game to the post-season as it will now take three wins instead of two to capture the crown.

The New Canaan Patch reports that New Canaan High's athletic director likes the re-alignment.  The Rams will be seeking a fifth straight football title in the fall.
